We have created a comparative guide for you to know which is the best radar detector.
We are in a period where everything is changing: both the regulation of radar detectors, equipment and even recently the speed limits (80 km / h instead of 90 km / h).
In this article, we will discuss the different means available to warn about the presence of radars.
It is obvious that I do not advise putting illegality, and I urge all road users to respect the laws, which will save you tickets and equipment dedicated to avoiding them.
The detector could be described as a fantastic option for simplicity. Next, they own much raised the decision in case you would like to find an automatic radar detector. In addition, it is necessary to see that no radar sensor will report each radar they meet. While people drive An excellent radar detector must detect the presence of unique devices.
The Valentine One is considered to be one of the best performing radar detectors on the market. It is a combination radar/LIDAR detector that was designed by Michael Valentine and manufactured by Valentine Research, Inc.
The Valentine One is a winner. It is considered one of the very best laser detector ever made. This is partly due to the fact that it has two antennas, with one being a rear-facing antenna. We’ve all been caught from behind when exceeding the speed limit. The Valentine One alerts you when you’re being targeted with radar gun from behind so you’ll have time to slow your speed.
It is a combination radar/LIDAR detector that was designed by Michael Valentine and manufactured by Valentine Research, Inc. This detector features a patented warning system that tells you the number of radar and laser sources detected as well as their location. The Valentine One has two radar antennas that make this possible.
The outer case of the Valentine One is made of magnesium that will not allow electrical interference to hinder its performance. On the front of the device is the display that will show you how many radar sources the unit is picking up. On the right are four vertical LEDs that tell you which band of radar is being detected.
This unit can pick up L, Ka, K, X, and Ku-Band. You are also provided with the strength of the radar signals, and as the signal grows closer to your vehicle, the LEDs illuminate from left to right until all eight of the LEDs are illuminated. This means that the radar threat is very close.
You get 2 city modes and a highway mode with the Valentine 1 as well as VG-2 Stealth detection and an AutoScan mode that automatically adjusts its sensitivity to X and K band radar, no matter where you’re driving. This means the false signals are rejected automatically for you.
Radar range is the same. In outer space, with the beam pointed directly at V1, I’m sure we could find radar 100 miles away. But on earth you never get a straight shot like that. You might get 5 miles in the flats of Texas or Kansas. In the mountains around Asheville, N.C., you might not get a half mile.
Range tends to confuse people because they don’t know all the variables. For example, when you see a radar patrol car, is the beam pointed toward you or away. When it’s pointed away, you have only scattered reflections to look for, so maximum range is likely to be 1/20th of what it would be when toward you, and this assumes no obstructions between the reflector and your antenna.

One of the first things which people always comment on with the Escort Passport 9500IX Radar Detector is the blue backlighting of the screen. This looks awesome at night and provides a point of difference from the usual black and red displays which most other radar detectors use.
Whilst this model only has 2 buttons on the top, navigation is surprisingly easy, and is customized by the length of time that you hold the buttons down for.
The Escort Passport 9500IX Radar Detector still recognizes all of the key bands in the radar and laser spectrum, with notifications providing detail of K, Ka, X, and POP. At first, we were unable to find a facility for Ku detection – but after a bit of time spent surfing through the navigation menus, we found the option to turn it on.
This is important because Ku is the latest band being employed by law enforcement agencies throughout the world. It provides a faster reading of speed, and is therefore encouraging a shift away from the Ka and K bands. The 9500IX also detects all types of lasers, making for a very comprehensive device.
Our testing environment featured a test track with a 4 mile length. The radar detector was able to pick up a signal on both Ka and Ku bands from a distance of 2 miles (in a line of sight).
Instant On radar – which is the bane of most radar detector owners – could be detected from between 500 to 1000 feet (not taking into account any leakage from other vehicles – so technically this could extend to 1500 feet).
The Escort Passport 9500IX Radar Detector is a unit with a difference. Having recently been reduced in price to better align it with the rest of the market, we ordered the product (even though we’ve used this particular model in the past) to see whether it has continued to stand the test of time.
After some heavy duty testing, we’re ready to sum up our findings on this device – as well as give our overall opinion as to whether it is still a competitive product in this fierce market.
- 4. Our Rating
Even though we have moved on from the Escort Passport 9500IX Radar Detector since its first release, we still think it is an extremely good product for the average motorist – and at the current price, it represents amazing value for money. It still manages to get 4.9 stars from us.
The Beltronics RX65 radar detector is the most advanced radar, laser and safety detector ever designed by Beltronics. Itis manufactured in North America for use in the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan. With new surface mount (SMT) technology, the Bel RX65 radar detector has allowed Beltronics to lower manufacturing costs and provide a very nice looking product with the best performance available.
The Beltronics RX65 Radar Detector is excellent for X, K, Ka superwide and laser detection. Beltronics RX65 radar detector has an advanced Varactor Tuned Antenna to detect all traffic radar to the front – including the new digital X, K, Ka, Ku radar guns, plus detection of the new POP3 Ka radar guns.
The Beltronics RX65 radar detector is superb at detecting hidden police radar traps, over the hill or around blind curves. This Beltronics radar detector can detect Ka police radar at 11+ miles. The display is a traditional red, and voice alerts are also provided. The Beltronics RX65 can be optionelly combined with the GPS Mirror to provide radar detection with Photo speed trap and Red Light Camera alerts.
The Bel RX65’s circuitry is highly accurate and far more stable than traditional bias tuned antennas used in conventional radar detectors. Cold or hot weather, the Beltronics RX65 radar detector responds in a very stable manner, providing the fastest response time of all radar detectors.
